Michael Brooks is celebrated for his talks and journalism which explain complex scientific ideas to the common man and woman. He'll be presenting a history of the Renaissance mathematics that birthed imaginary numbers, probability, and the new physics of the universe.

Shore 2 Shore Book-Signing Session

 

Carol Ann Duffy,  Gillian Clarke, Imtiaz Dharker and Jackie Kay will be dropping into The Bookshop during their 'Shore 2 Shore' book tour to sign copies of their books.

Client Earth is a body of activist lawyers committed to securing a healthy planet by taking corporations to task on environmental issues. Founders James Thornton and Martin Goodman will give a fascinating talk about the journey of the non-profit environmental law group from inception to the present day.

In 'Felix Culpa', Jeremy Gavron conjures up a work of extraordinary literary alchemy: a novel made out of lines taken from a hundred great works of literature. He will talk about the novel and his writing process.

Lisa Jewell, the prolific author of 16 novels, celebrated in the bestseller charts this season with 'Then She Was Gone' will be in conversation with ace crime-writer Ruth Ware, author of 'The Woman in Cabin 10' and most recently 'The Lying Game'. The authors' two latest books will be available to buy ahead of publication date exclusively at this event.

 

MAHSUDA SNAITH

The Things We Thought We Knew

Wednesday 6th June | 7:30pm, Kibworth Library

Mahsuda will be 'in conversation' with Debbie from The Bookshop, talking about her debut book, which lead her to be included on The Observer's 'New Face of Fiction' list last year. They heralded the work 'an original and affecting coming-of-age novel'.
